Everyone at Manchester United wants Rooney to stay, says Van Persie

The 27-year-old was also left “angry and confused” at public comments from Moyes which suggested he would be considered as a back-up to Van Persie. The United boss has since clarified his comments to the striker.

Van Persie believes Rooney "will come good again" and revealed one of his reasons for leaving Arsenal in August 2012 was to play alongside the England international.

"Everyone wants Wayne to stay and deep down I think he feels the same," Van Persie told The Sun.

"One of the reasons I joined Manchester United was to play with Wayne.

"I hope he stays. Not only is he a great goalscorer, he does so much work across the pitch.

"He hates to lose and that's why you see him one minute pressing for goal, the next minute defending ferociously. He is an asset to any team.

"He will come good again. He is a strong lad."

Dani Alves: I would love David Luiz to join Barcelona

The Brazil international would welcome his compatriot with open arms if he were to arrive at Camp Nou, but understands the difficulty
in attaining his signature
Dani Alves feels Chelsea defender David Luiz would be a good addition for Barcelona, but thinks the Catalans face a tough task in luring the Brazil international away from his current club.

The Camp Nou side are keen to add some fresh blood to their defence this summer and tabled a €25 million offer for the 26-year-old Luiz earlier this month, while their advances for Liverpool's Daniel Agger have also been spurned.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has since stressed that Barca have little chance of getting their man, but Alves would welcome his compatriot with open arms if the transfer were to take place.

"I would be happy if David Luiz would come to Barcelona. I always want the best for my friends and advise them to join Barca if they get the chance," Alves told El Mundo Deportivo.

"He's not just a friend, but he has a lot of quality, too.

"The problem is not whether he would like to come here, but that you have to take him away from Mourinho and that will not be easy.

"Letting David Luiz join Barca will not be an option for him and even less so as it would make us stronger. It will be incredibly difficult, nearly impossible."

Luiz has a contract with Chelsea until June 2017.

Chelsea defender David Luiz tight-lipped on Barcelona rumours

Chelsea defender David Luiz has refused to be drawn on reports linking him with a move to La
Liga champions
Barcelona.

The Camp Nou club are poised to make a second bid for the centre-back after having an initial £21.5 millionmove rejected.

Luiz is currently away with the the Brazilian national side as they prepare for a friendly fixture with Switzerland in Basel.

But the 26-year-old is not answering questions on his club career, preferring to focus instead on Wednesday's game at St Jakob-Park.

"I will only talk about the national team because this is all I can think about when I come here, that's how I think," Luiz is quoted as saying by Globo Esporte

"It was like this in Brazil during the Confederations Cup, and it will be like this here.

"You (the media) can try everything, but you won't get anything from me."

Crystal Palace have completed the signing of Arsenal striker Marouane Chamakh on a one-year deal.

Crystal Palace have completed the signing of Arsenal striker Marouane Chamakh on a one-year deal.

The striker becomes the newly promoted side's seventh arrival of the summer following Jose Campana, Stephen Dobbie, Dwight Gayle, Elliot Grandin, Kevin Phillips and Jerome Thomas.

Chamakh, who willl wear the No.29 shirt, had been out of favour at the Emirates Stadium and joined West Ham on a six-month loan in January but failed to score in three appearances.

The Morrocan will now compete with the likes of fellow new signings Phillips and Dobbie for first-team opportunities this season.

The 29-year-old could make his Palace debut against Arsenal's local rivals Tottenham in the club's Premier League season opener on August 18.
